For nearly 20 years, we’ve had the privilege of welcoming baby ducks into the studio and watching children slow down, kneel to the ground, and meet their tiny, feathered friends with curiosity, gentleness, and delight. What began as a simple idea has quietly become a spring tradition … one that families return to year after year as their children grow.
This year, we’re offering two distinct Baby Duck portrait experiences, each designed to celebrate childhood in a slightly different way … but with the same calm, guided approach Cloud 9 Studios is known for.

A Calm & Timeless Baby Duck Experience
Our Simple Ducks portrait experience is designed for parents who love beautiful simplicity … the kind that lets the smallest moments shine.
Set against a soft cream backdrop, this scene removes all distractions so the focus stays on your child and their gentle interaction with the baby ducks. With nothing competing for attention, every expression, every giggle, and every careful touch becomes part of the story.
This experience is especially perfect for families who want clean, classic portraits that feel just as meaningful years from now as they do today. The neutral background allows skin tones, emotions, and connection to take center stage, creating images that feel timeless, refined, and deeply personal.
As with all Cloud 9 Studios experiences, Simple Ducks is calm and guided. Children are never rushed or forced to perform. We allow space for curiosity, observation, and those sweet, unscripted moments that naturally unfold when a child feels safe and seen.

We have had fun photographing with the Baby Ducks since 2008! Here is a little walk down memory lane.
We are often asked how we take care of the ducks at the studio. Let me just say that our ducks live in luxury for the week they spend with us! Our kitchen is turned in to a Duck Day Spa where they are kept warm with a heat lamp, given yummy duck food and water in a safe environment for babies without a mommy duck. When we photograph with the ducks I have my assistant within inches of the set to work with the ducks and the children. We take every precaution possible to ensure that no child or duck is harmed while being photographed. In fact over the past 19 years it has been amazing to watch how much the children learn to love and be gentle with the baby ducks. Our goal is to foster a child’s love of animals. One little girl has even told me that her sessions with the ducks over the past few years has inspired her to grow up to be a veterinarian! How cute!
