“Cousins are those childhood playmates who grow up to be forever friends” …
When school is out for the summer it is the perfect time for families to get together and hang out for the day or go on vacations. I have many childhood memories of running through the woods with my cousins, building forts, riding bikes and generally being up to no good until dinner time.
One of my good friends had her niece and nephew at her house this summer for a week. While it isn’t always easy being the mom who is hosting, you do it because you know the memories being made are important for these “forever friends“. Or you do it because you want your brother or sister to owe you a favor. HAHA! Wait, maybe that is just me. Hmmmm
Anyhow, I digress … back to my blog story … My friend, Katty, called me up and asked about coming to the studio one day with all 5 kids to create a series of portraits to give to family and of course to have for themselves. I LOVED this idea! Most times I don’t photograph cousins unless it is part of a larger multi-generational session. Instead of only having 5ish minutes we got an entire hour to play around and have fun! We photographed the cousins together, then each set of siblings and also did some fun individual portraits. Now everyone in the family has a complete set of updated portraits!
Thank you Katty for having this amazing idea, and of course Thank you for bringing them to the studio!
Here are a few of the images we created during that session. I hope you enjoy 🙂
If you are interested in bringing your children and their cousins in for a portrait, give us a shout or request a session online! We would love to work with you to capture these fun and timeless memories.
