Maybe it is the unpredictability, or maybe I just like to eat leftover cake and pop balloons, but whatever the reason, I LOVE First Birthday Sessions!!!
When parents come in to the studio it is a little bittersweet. There isn’t a mom on this planet who doesn’t remember the day their baby was born. As moms and dads sit in my studio they get a little teary eyed thinking about how fast these 12 months have flown by. How did they go from barely being able to open their eyes, to toddling after you in the kitchen and eating food with their hands? How did they go from crying for every need to starting to say their first words? It is truly incredible the changes that happen in such a short amount of time.
The only way we can truly freeze this time and capture all of the memories is with photography. Soon these memories will fade as years of accomplishments, sports, dance, vacations, and school begin to overwhelm your brain. The photographs and portraits we create from the First Birthday session serve as a reminder to not only what they looked like at One, but also how they acted and their little personalities.
I think this is truly why I love First Birthdays. Hopefully in life we have many celebrations of birthdays and other happy milestones, but this will always be the First! The first cake, the first party, the first chance to celebrate with our baby the miracle of their life!
Amelia’s First Birthday
Here is a recent First Birthday session which just made me smile! The baby DID NOT want to wear her flower crown, but mom was determined and therefore we weren’t going to quit until this memory was capture! Together the mom and I styled this beautiful setting which perfectly depicted the baby and their love of everything girly, princess and pink!
Mom purchased our new First Birthday Art Folio Box with 10 matted prints and matching digital images as part of her collection. This is absolutely one of the most perfect products because how are you supposed to pick just 1 image to tell the story of your baby’s first birthday?
Oh and added bonus … We were able to deliver it to her in time to display at the birthday party! Can I get a “woot woot!”
