A Magic of Childhood Portrait Experience is a themed portrait session built around something your child loves right now — a favorite story, character, hobby, interest or imaginary world. We use creative planning, sets, props, styling and sometimes digital compositing to bring that idea to life in a way that feels personal to your child.

These sessions are designed for children of all ages — and even adults with active imaginations. We have photographed everything from young children stepping into fantasy worlds to grandparents becoming wizards and pirates.

The most important thing is that the experience is based on something the person genuinely loves.

In most cases, yes. Magic of Childhood sessions are intentionally open-ended. During your Discovery Call, we’ll talk about what your child is excited about and explore ways to turn that interest into a portrait experience created especially for them.

We’ve created experiences inspired by everything from Minecraft and princesses to dinosaurs, wizards, pirates, fairies, favorite books and much more.

Some Magic of Childhood experiences include costumes, accessories, props or special set pieces, while others may use items your family already owns. We’ll talk through the complete plan during your Discovery Call so you know exactly what we will provide and what, if anything, you should bring.

Every experience is a little different. Some are photographed on physical sets, some use digital compositing, and many combine both. The approach depends on the world we’re creating and the final artwork we have planned.

We’ll explain the process during planning so you’ll know what your child will experience during the session and how the finished portraits will come together.

Most Magic of Childhood portrait sessions are approximately 30 minutes. Because we plan the concept before you arrive, your child can spend the session playing, imagining and stepping into the world we’ve created rather than waiting while we figure everything out.

The session fee is $45 and reserves your Magic of Childhood Portrait Experience. Portraits and artwork are purchased separately after you view your images.

Print Collections begin at $375, Digital Collections begin at $695, and Albums and Wall Art begin at $895. We’ll guide you through the options so you can choose what feels right for your family.

We recommend contacting us at least two weeks in advance if you would like a weekday session and about four weeks in advance if you would prefer a Saturday.

Extra planning time is especially helpful when we’re creating a very specific theme, sourcing special props or building custom elements for your child’s experience.

That’s very common. During your Discovery Call, we’ll talk about your child’s age, personality, interests and what you most want to remember about this stage. Then we’ll help you choose the experience that fits them best.

Depending on your child’s age and what you’re hoping to celebrate, a First Birthday Portrait Experience, Toddler Birthday Club, Child + Pet Portrait Experience or Magic of Childhood session may be the right fit.
